Trumpet player and tunesmith Hayden Powell is originally English, but grew up in the Norwegian jazz- festival town of Molde. His trio presents original and playful chamber jazz, full of detail and dynamics. Their most recent album, Roots and Stems, was released in October 2013 and they’re working on a new one for release in 2015.

Hayden Powell Trio has plenty of live experience and excels in intimate venues where they can connect closely to the audience. They’ve played many of Norway’s finest festivals (Moldejazz, Nattjazz, Dølajazz) and venues. They’ve also played outside of Norway, such as in Porto (Casa Da Musica), Cologne (Stadtgarten) and Rotterdam (Lantaren Venster).

Since 2011, the trio has worked with guest musicians such as drummer Per Oddvar Johansen, pianist Helge Lien and bassists Peedu Kass, Rune Nergaard and Sondre Meisfjord. Trombone player Erik Johannessen, saxophonist Tore Brunborg and Dutch drummer Jasper van Hulten contributed to their album The Attic (2011) as well as live.
