If you haven’t stood in front of a good orchestra before – all I can say is that you must try to do that before you die. Playing Iro’s new piece Ante Lucem with Norrlands Symfoniorkester was an exhilarating experience. The music, beautifully written, was interpreted to perfection by Norrlandsoperans Symfoniorkester and their brilliant conductor Jukka Iisakkila, who really managed to bring out the details of the score and at the same time create a bridge between us jazz musicians and the orchestra. We were lucky enough to spend almost a whole week rehearsing, performing and recording in the great acoustics of Norrlandsoperans concert hall, and I can’t wait for the recording to be released, hopefully giving more opportunities to perform the music.

John Kelman from All About Jazz wrote a nice review of the concert – read it here
