The morning after the Atlanter gig on Tuesday I was up at 0530 (talk about bad timing..) to go to Tromsø with guitarist Odd Albrigtsen and his Quintet of Oscar Grønberg (rhodes), Trygve Fiske (bass) and Tore Sandbakken (drums). A big leap in style from the night before but equally rewarding, we played a set of modern jazz originals by the band leader at a beautiful venue called Verdensteatret. This was my first gig with the band and I needed all the focus I could find as these tunes don’t play themselves..
The audience was very appreciative (as usual when I play in Tromsø), and we ended up playing a much longer set than planned – time flies when you’re having fun! Thanks to Nordlysfestivalen, the audience and fellow musicians!
